Fairfax City FY2020-21 Budget Presentation Earns National Award
The City of Fairfax, Va., received the Government Finance Officers Association Distinguished Budget Presentation Award for its FY 2020-21 Budget. This award is the highest form of recognition in governmental budgeting. As the department designated as being primarily responsible for achieving the award, the city Finance Department was presented with a Certificate of Recognition for Budget Presentation.
The award represents a significant achievement by the city, reflecting a commitment by the mayor and city council and staff to meet the highest principles of governmental budgeting. To receive the budget award, the city met nationally recognized guidelines for effective budget presentation. These guidelines are designed to assess how well an entity's budget serves as a:
- Policy document;
- Financial plan;
- Operations guide and;
- Communications device.
Bắn cá bầuThe city budget was reviewed by a panel of independent reviewers. Budget documents must be rated "proficient" in all four categories, and in the 14 mandatory criteria within those categories, to receive the award. The city has received this award for 27 consecutive years.
There are more than 1,600 participants in the Budget Awards Program. Award recipients have pioneered efforts to improve the quality of budgeting and provide an excellent example for other governments throughout North America.
