Fairfax City Parks and Recreation has built their reopening plans in accordance with COVID-19 safety guidelines from the Fairfax County Health District (Fairfax City is included in this district) Virginia Governor’s office, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the National Recreation and Parks Association (NRPA) recommendations.

Our parks, trails, and fields remain open at this time. For updates on reopening of amenities please visit our Open Status Guide. All parks and playgrounds are fenced off and have posted signage for the safety of our residents.

Bắn cá bầuPark visitors are asked to adhere to the physical distancing guidelines and small group guidelines (do not exceed 10 people), to avoid closed facilities or apparatus, and to keep in mind that restrooms and park buildings will not be open at this time.

Bắn cá bầuThe health and wellbeing of our community, park visitors and staff remain our highest priority. By limiting park usage, we hope to reduce large crowd gatherings, thus improving the ability to social distance and prevent the spread of COVID-19.

At this time due to the recommendations of the CDC all of our programs (adult, youth, senior, cultural arts, etc) at our facilities (Green Acres Community Center, Young at Heart Senior Center, Sherwood Community Center, Old Town Hall, and Historic Blenheim) are closed until further notice.

2020 Summer Camp Cancellation 

• We have been working very hard over the past few months to make a decision on camps for the 2020 summer. After vigilant consultation with local health officials, school representatives, other regional recreation providers and local government officials, the decision was made to cancel ALL 2020 City of Fairfax summer camp programs.   With the health and safety of the entire community including campers and staff as the City of Fairfax’s top priority, we felt there were too many challenges to ensure we run camps safely this summer.  We fully recognize that this difficult decision will be disappointing to families but hope that you are understanding. Please know that we did not make this decision lightly and we are deeply saddened that there will be no summer camp offered this year.
  
  

• Many of our third party camp partners will be offering virtual options will be sent out very soon as well - we are working on compiling and making links available to our customers as soon as possible. 

• Bắn cá bầu We value all of our camp families and recognize that our camp programs are vital part of our community.  We look forward to having camp again in 2021, and by registering this year you will receive priority registration at that time.   Information will be sent out at the beginning of the new year.

The Young at Heart Senior Center at Green Acres and all of their programs remain closed until further notice. 

Virtual programing for Seniors 55+ is currently being developed.

Facility Rentals

• All Facility Rentals will be closed until Phases 2 & 3, depending on size of event and other recommended guidelines. Each rental will be decided on a case by case basis.
• All facility tours must be scheduled through Operations Manager, Brianne Baglini or Facility Coordinator, Kaveh Tajalli. Face coverings will be required at all facility tours.

Picnic Pavilion Rentals

• All Picnic Pavilion rentals will be closed until Phase 2. During Phase 2 rentals of pavilions will be reopened for groups of 50 or under.
