Census results are used to distribute seats in the U.S. House of Representatives, for example, and are used to determine how to provide our city with state and federal funds, and a myriad of other important and crucial resources.

Every resident who does not respond to the U.S. Census can cost Northern Virginia $12,000 — money that could be used for education, healthcare, housing, infrastructure, roads and a host of other services that the government provides.

Bắn cá bầuFor the first time, the U.S. Census has gone paperless. In mid-March, households will receive a postcard from the U.S. Census with the web address of the secure U.S. Census website and your individual code.

Fill out your U.S. Census form on your smartphone, tablet, or computer. The website, and your response, are secure, and all information provided in the U.S.  Census is private.

If you do not have use of a smartphone, tablet, or computer, you can go to the library.

You may be able to check out a laptop from the library to complete your online census form at home, if you prefer.

If you want to fill out a paper form for the U.S. Census, you may request one.

Bắn cá bầuCall the phone number on the postcard to receive a paper form, then mail it back promptly.

Households that don’t respond to the U.S. Census after receiving their initial phostcard will receive reminders — then, in mid-April, will receive printed reminders.

An official Census Taker will visit each household that has not responded by late spring.

Bắn cá bầuYes. Census forms are kept confidential, and Census employees take an oath to keep information confidential.

Bắn cá bầu By law, the U.S. Census Bureau cannot release any identifiable information about you, your home, or your business, even to law enforcement agencies. Your private data is protected and that your answers cannot be used against you by any government agency or court.

Bắn cá bầuYour answers are used only to produce statistics. You are kept anonymous: The Census Bureau is not permitted to publicly release your responses in any way that could identify you or anyone else in your home.

Bắn cá bầuThe U.S. Census Bureau will not send unsolicited emails to request your participation in the 2020 Census.

During the 2020 Census, the U.S. Census Bureau will NEVER ask for:

• Your Social Security number
• Your bank account or credit card numbers
• Money or donations

Bắn cá bầuIn addition, the U.S. Census Bureau will not contact you on behalf of a political party.

You will be visited by a Census worker only if you do not respond to multiple mailed requests to complete your Census form.

Census workers will have a valid ID badge, with their photograph, a U.S. Department of Commerce watermark, and an expiration date.
